Turveruukki Oy acquires energy wood and peat from the surrounding region. We are a major employer in rural areas, and forest owners and contractors are important partners for us. Turveruukki Oy operates responsibly, taking into account the needs of the environment and the people in the area.
Oulun Energia relies on local energy
Northern Finland's energy production guarantees a competitive and secure energy supply for both companies and homes. In the production of electricity and heat by Oulun Energia, more than 90 per cent of the energy sources we use come from within a radius of one hundred kilometres from Oulu.
We work together with the people in the area. Converted into year-round jobs, the production of local energy used by Oulun Energia employs about 1,000 people in the province around Oulu, and brings an annual income stream of almost EUR 40 million to the region. It improves the security of supply in our region and creates an opportunity for companies to operate and develop. The benefits of locally produced energy return many times over to the people's daily lives in the area.
We acquire energy wood for the production of heat and electricity within a radius of about one hundred kilometres from Oulu. We use energy wood that is produced in accordance with the principles and actions of sustainable forest management.
For forest owners
The main energy wood fraction acquired by Turveruukki is pruned wood, which is unsuitable for use as material, mainly stemwood that is small in diameter. The logs are delivered by lumber truck to intermediate warehouses, or terminals, to dry and wait for chipping and delivery to the power plant.
If you are interested in selling energy wood, please contact us. Our contractors handle the chipping and transportation of the wood raw material according to the schedule agreed with the customer.
For peat contractors
Turveruukki Oy is responsible for the production and delivery of energy peat to Oulun Energia's power plants. Turveruukki also has other peat customers in Northern Finland. Our company has contractors in the overall contract for peat production, in the renovation of production areas, and in loading and transport operations.
