The price of district heating will increase

21.11.2023 / Last updated 30.01.2024 07:08

The unit rate and fixed fee of district heating will increase by 9.7% effective 1 January 2024. The price increase is due to the increased production costs of district heating. The production costs of district heating have increased significantly due to the unprecedented global situation and the resulting inflation. However, in national comparison, district heating is still affordable in Oulu.

We are aiming to control future price levels by accelerating the transition towards renewable energy sources and circular economy fuels, and by developing our operations that aim to produce responsible and affordable energy for our customers. We will be utilising waste heat generated as a by-product of industry and service industries and increasing the production of carbon-neutral district heat by commissioning the electric boiler under construction in the Laanila industrial area during the end of 2023.

Our long-term goal is to build a responsible and cost-effective energy system of the future for the people of Oulu that future generations can be proud of.

The new pricing is valid effective 1 January 2024. A newsletter and the new price list have been mailed on 13 November 2023.
