Männikkötuulet Oy, owned by Oulun Energia Oy, Kokkolan Energia Oy, Imatran Seudun Sähkö, Oulun Seudun Sähkö and Haukiputaan Sähköosuuskunta, has acquired two wind farms located in Ostrobothnia from Infracapital, the infrastructure equity arm of M&G Investments.

The two onshore wind farms acquired by Männikkötuulet Oy are Storbacken in Vörå and Kröpuln in Nykarleby. Completed in 2021, the farms have a total capacity of 60 megawatts.

This acquisition supports Männikkötuulet Oy's and its owners' responsible long-term strategy of increasing ownership in Finnish renewable energy. The owners bring their decades of experience and their proven expertise in energy production to the recently-founded company.

“As domestic energy companies, we want to be actively involved in advancing the green transition. The Storbacken and Kröpuln wind farms are already in production, enabling us to quickly supply renewable energy to our shareholders without years of development and construction,” says Kimmo Nieminen, Managing Director of Männikkötuulet Oy and Head of Wind and Power at Oulun Energia.

Männikkötuulet Oy operates under the Mankala principle, meaning that its owners are entitled to a share of the produced electricity which corresponds to their share of ownership. With this acquisition, the company becomes an owner of its first two renewable energy production sites. While no new acquisition decisions have been made, the company will continue to consider potential sites in the future.
