Oulun Energia, Kärpät and AC Oulu are to hold an anti-bullying (Emme kiusaa) sports day intended for school children from 11am-2pm on Friday 10 June 2022. During the sports day, participants will have a chance to test their own skills at different activity points under the guidance of professional players and be able to meet idols.

The hockey event in the sports event will take place at Kärpät’s training ice rink and the football event in AC Oulu’s Garam Masala Hall. Participants choose which event they wish to take part in when they register. Registration is open from 12 May to 3 June at oulunenergia.fi/emme-kiusaa. Each event has places for the first 100 to register. The events are free of charge.

“This is the first time Oulun Energia is to hold such an event in collaboration with local professional clubs. The event aims to give all young people an equal opportunity to learn about hockey and football in a no-bullying environment under the guidance of professional players,” says Linda Webster, Marketing Manager at Oulun Energia.

There is an opportunity to send prior questions related to the no bullying theme to players. Answers to the questions will be posted on both Kärpät’s and AC Oulu’s social media channels ahead of the event. There will also be a chance to interview players during the day so participants can think beforehand about the questions they would like to ask at the event.

Players from various AC Oulu teams will be on hand as instructors in the football event and at the end of the day players in the main team will demonstrate some top tricks, sign autographs and hand out match tickets to all participants.

“The wellbeing of children and young people is very important and we want to be involved in supporting this in every possible way. Our own anti-bullying campaign is a really important socially responsible move for us, too and so the anti-bullying theme is ideally suited to this sports event. We at AC Oulu are very grateful for good cooperation with Oulun Energia and Kärpät – the day will definitely be one to remember,” enthuses Juho Meriläinen, AC Oulu’s managing director.

The hockey event will see Kärpät players ranging from the U20 team to the first team. Equipment manufacturer CCM will also be at the activity points.

“It’s great to be involved in cooperation with Oulun Energia and AC Oulu in a low-threshold sports event like this for schoolchildren. Besides various activities, the children will also have a chance to meet top players in Raksila was well as future promising young talents in the U20 team. An important event encouraging activity and doing things together,” sums up Ilkka Mikkola, Account Manager at Oulun Kärpät Oy.
