The security of supply charge will increase as of 1 April. The change is based on the Electricity Tax Act approved by Parliament. The security of supply charge is a statutory tax levied on electricity and fuels to finance Finland’s security of supply – that is, the nation’s ability to cope during crisis situations.
From 1 April 2026 onwards, the new security of supply charge will be 0.085 cents/kWh for electricity supplied. For electricity supplied before 1 April 2026, the charge is 0.013 cents/kWh. The change applies to all electricity users and energy tax categories.
Oulun Energia Sähköverkko Oy and Oulun Energia Kenve Oy are informing their network service customers of this change, as the security of supply charge is collected as part of the energy tax in connection with the network service invoice. The electricity network companies act as tax collectors and remit the charge to the Finnish Tax Administration.
