20.01.2026 / Last updated 00:00

The Lestijärvi wind farm has been completed and handed over to its owners. The wind farm is owned by a consortium formed by Finnish energy companies Kymppivoima, Oulun Energia and Kuopion Energia. With a total of 69 turbines and an output of 455.4 megawatts, it is the largest wind farm in Finland, and it was built by the renewable energy company OX2.

The annual energy production of the Lestijärvi wind farm exceeds 1.3 terawatt-hours. This corresponds to approximately 1.6 per cent of Finland’s total electricity production in 2024 (82.7 TWh). OX2 will continue to be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the wind farm.
The consortium that owns the Lestijärvi wind farm consists of the domestic energy operators Kymppivoima, Oulun Energia and Kuopion Energia. Of the total investment, Kymppivoima accounts for around 65%, Oulun Energia 25%, and Kuopion Energia 10%.

Key facts about the Lestijärvi wind farm:
