As a result of Russia’s war against Ukraine, more than half of Ukraine’s electricity network has been damaged or destroyed. More than 10 million Ukrainians have been left without electricity.

As a result, the European Parliament and Eurocities, a network of over 200 major European cities, have together launched the Generators of Hope campaign. The campaign calls on cities to donate power generators and transformers to help Ukrainians survive the coming severe winter. The donated generators keep vital facilities operational, including hospitals, schools, water treatment facilities, and emergency centres.

Oulun Energia wants to express its support for Ukraine by donating two backup power generators, including fuel tanks and spare parts kits. Previously, Oulun Energia supported Ukraine by donating an aid package for repairing the district heating network. The equipment will be transported to one of three EU assistance centres in Ukraine. Ukraine will then decide where in the country they are most needed.

Oulun Energia is very pleased to once again be able to support Ukraine and help it rebuild its vital infrastructure.
