Smart energy management—smart optimisation and maximum returns from energy markets
Oulun Energia’s new smart energy management service gives businesses the opportunity to use their energy resources efficiently and generate new returns from the energy market. The solution optimises interconnected energy production plants, storage facilities, and consumption sites that operate in a coordinated way within the electricity market—including both the Nord Pool power exchange and Fingrid’s reserve market.
This is a nationwide service; customers across Finland can participate with their energy loads to benefit financially from energy optimisation while making a sustainable choice to help maintain Finland’s electricity balance.
The service enables the customer’s energy load, such as electric boilers, heat pumps, or backup power generators, to be operated in the most cost-effective and productive way at any given time. It also allows for new forms of additional revenue through coordinated participation in various energy markets, including the Nord Pool electricity exchange and Fingrid’s reserve market.
The service is ideal for industrial operators, renewable energy producers, and other energy companies without their own optimisation solutions.

Demand-side flexibility of electricity

Electricity sales and storage
Electricity can be sold directly to the market, particularly when prices are high. Electricity storage, such as with batteries, enables energy to be sold when demand and prices are at their highest.
Utilisation of renewable energy

Our prior experience includes successfully executing demanding industrial-scale projects together with our customers. Together with Osuuskauppa Arina, we implemented smart energy production systems for two of their stores. We built an energy centre connected to Nokia’s new smart campus that produces cooling and utilises surplus heat in the district heating network.
