Electricity connection

Are you building a new one or electrifying an old one? Are you planning to host an event in a public place? In order to receive electricity, you need an electricity connection to connect to Oulun Energia Sähköverkko Oy's electricity network. We deliver both permanent and temporary electricity connections.

Before ordering an electricity connection

In order to make the purchase of the electricity connection as smooth as possible, you should remember a few basic things. Click on the links below to learn how to get an electricity connection, especially if you have not previously ordered an electricity connection from us.

NB! Oulun Energia Sähköverkot don't rent anymore construction site distribution board. In the future construction site distribution board can be rented from construction machinery rental companies in the area.

Connection details

Mobile (construction site) distribution boards with a "rubber cable" serving as the service main shall comply with EN 61439-4 (standard for construction site distribution boards). The construction site distribution board or other temporary switchboard must be inspected by an electrical contractor in accordance with the terms of connection. This ensures that the switchboard can be safely connected to the electrical power network.

If the construction site distribution board will be connected to the "end" of the underground service main installed on the plot and not with a rubber cable to the connection point at the boundary of the plot or directly to the substation/distribution cabinet, this must be mentioned in the connection order. The type of underground cable used must be specified. If this underground cable is only a supply cable for the construction site distribution board and will not be used later as part of the permanent connection, this should be mentioned as well (usually requires that the site has a substation or a distribution cabinet on the plot).

  • The construction site distribution board (temporary electricity connection) is attached to scaffolding and it is used during construction. The final main distribution board (permanent electricity connection) will be used later when the building is completed. The main distribution board will be located in, for example, the technical utility room.
  • The plot distribution board is the main distribution board to be installed in the yard (permanent electricity connection), which serves during the construction period and stays there permanently. No separate construction site distribution board is needed.
  • In detached houses, the construction site distribution board connection during construction is usually always 3 x 25 A.
  • The permanent connection is often 3 x 25 A, but the size of the house, the heating method and an electric car charging station may increase the main fuse of the connection up to 3 x 35 A–3 x 63 A. Check the size of the main fuse with your electrical designer.

  • The distribution board of a semi-detached plot is a main distribution board installed in the yard (permanent electricity connection), where the electricity meters of both apartments are placed. The distribution board is installed fixed in place. It serves first in on-site electrification and later in residential electrification.
  • In semi-detached houses, the main fuse of the electricity connection is often 3 x 35 A or 3 x 50 A or larger, depending on the heating method and conditions for an electric car charging station. Check the size of the main fuse with your electrical designer.
