Vapaavirta ("Freedom Power") is a right choice for a price-conscious consumer. Vapaavirta is an open-ended contract that is adapted to market price of electricity. You can choose a spot contract that is adapted to hourly changing price of electricity or a quarterly contract where the price is determined every three months. The open-ended contract has a notice period of two weeks.
In a spot contract you always pay the hourly price for your electricity. Thus you can schedule your electricity consumption on the most affordable hours. Price of electricity consists of a basic charge, the hourly energy price determined by Nord Pool Power market on price area in Finland, and the seller's margin (0,25 cent/kWh).
Quarterly contract is a right choice for you if you want to be close to market price but avoid big fluctuations in hourly price of electricity. In the quarterly contract price is determined four times a year, every three months. The pricing periods are 1 January to 31 March, 1 April to 30 June, 1 July to 30 September and 1 October to 31 December. If your electricity price changes, you will receive notification of the new price 30 days before the next pricing period starts.
