District heating for the detached house—from design to finish
Kaisa Poikela and Jari Hannu are building their second house in Ritaharju. The two-story detached house, to be completed in September 2023, has been carefully designed based on the family’s previous experience. The construction and design process is a joint effort by the six-member family, and everyone has had a say in the outcome.

District heating decreased electricity consumption
The rising electricity prices accelerated the Alajoki family’s, who live in a 200-square-metre detached house, plans to replace their electric heating system with district heating. Prior to replacing their heating system, their electricity consumption for domestic electricity and heating was over 30,000 kWh per year in a monitoring period of ten years.

Garam Masala Hall is heated with carbon-neutral district heating
Garam Masala Hall is a full-scale air dome owned by Oulun Jalkapallohalli Oy, located in Heinäpää Sports Center. The hall was completed in late 2020 and will significantly improve the conditions for winter football training in Oulu. The objective for the construction and maintenance of the hall has been to do it as responsibly as possible. This is also reflected in the energy choices made—the hall is heated with Oulun Energia's Onni - carbon-neutral district heating.

Underground cabling in forest plot brought electricity to cottage
In spring 2021, Marja Keväjärvi received a call from Oulun Energia Sähköverkko Oy. At the other end of the line was a landscape planner for the electricity network company, who told Keväjärvi that an underground cable was planned to be laid through her forest plot in Kiiminki.

Reliable and uninterrupted electricity to Oulu University Hospital
Oulu University Hospital is undergoing a major renovation: OYS 2030 is a renovation programme that will modernise the hospital’s operations and facilities to meet the challenges of future specialised medical care. The goal is for OYS to be the smartest hospital in the world by 2030, which also means growing electricity consumption. In 2016, it was found that the capacity of the hospital's electrical connections was not sufficient to cover the increase in electricity demand caused by new construction – Oulun Energia Sähköverkko Oy was invited to help solve the problem.
